Summerlin's Resident-Only Events Enhance Community Lifestyle
With nearly 20 actively-selling neighborhoods offering a wide variety of home home styles in a range of sizes and price points, Summerlin, now into its 25th year, continues to attract families and residents as one of the valley’s best places to live, according to Danielle Bisterfeldt, director of marketing for Summerlin.

According to Randy Ecklund, executive director of the Summerlin Council, events have been programmed for residents since 1997 as a way to enhance the sense of community and belonging in this incredible community. “Seasonal celebrations like the Egg Hunt, Pumpkin Festival, Hometown Holidays, Firecracker 5K and the Friday Nite Live summer concert series are part of what residents get when they buy a home here,” said Ecklund. “These events quickly become traditions for Summerlin families and are often the centerpiece of many family memories. A dedicated staff at the Summerlin Council, the non-profit arm of the Summerlin Community Association, plans and executes these events, functioning similar to a city’s parks and recreation department.
In addition to seasonal events, Summerlin also offers its residents a variety of classes and programming at three community centers and two resident-only pools. A fourth community center with a pool will open later this year in The Vistas village. Children and adults can take classes in swimming, martial arts, Pilates, jewelry making, dog training, CPR and more. Summerlin sports leagues and summer camps also attract large numbers of children and adults, providing year-round fun and healthy, outdoor activity.
The only master-planned community in Southern Nevada with a true urban center, Summerlin welcomed in 2014 the 106-acre fashion, dining and entertainment destination of Downtown Summerlin which has quickly become a hub of activity for both residents and the entire valley. Major events open to the public like Tour de Summerlin, a cycling event offering 40-, 60- and 80-mile routes; and the Summerlin Half Marathon, started and ended in Downtown Summerlin in April. The Summerlin Festival of Arts, celebrating its 20th year October 10th and 11th will also be held in Downtown Summerlin.
