SUMMERLIN AWARDS THREE EXCEPTIONAL GRADUATES WITH SCHOLARSHIPS
Since 1997 The Howard Hughes Corporation has partnered with Summerlin community leaders to award promising high school graduates from the master-planned community with college scholarships. Photographed with (far left) Tom Warden, senior vice president, Summerlin, and Danielle Bisterfeldt, director of marketing for Summerlin, are this year’s winners of the Summerlin Children’s Forum scholarship: Divya Ramakrishnan, Austin Phillips and Shane Cashin. Ramakrishnan valedictorian of the 2014 graduating class at The Meadows School, is heading to Stanford University to major in molecular biology and minor in Greek and Latin. Phillips, valedictorian of his Palo Verde High School class, is heading to Brigham Young University to major in accounting and minor in music. Cashin, pictured separately, is currently interning in Washington D.C. at Congresswoman Dina Titus’ office. A graduate of Clark High School will attend Duke University to major in economics and minor in political science. “These outstanding students ranked academically in the top percentiles of their respective classes, while simultaneously demonstrating a strong commitment to their community through volunteerism,” said Tom Warden. “They are well rounded, hardworking, gifted individuals and we are delighted to help them achieve their educational goals. Simply put, these are great kids with bright futures ahead of them.” Each student received $4,000 for college tuition. The Summerlin Children’s Forum scholarship competition is open to all graduating high school seniors who reside or attend school in Summerlin.
