Summerlin® Families Choose Life Side-By-Side At Monte Bello
“You can live next door to your parents or you can’t,” says 30-year-old Michael Markin. Apparently, he and his wife, Dominique, CAN live next to HIS parents. The young couple and the elder Markins bought spacious single-story homes side-by-side in Monte Bello by Richmond American Homes, a popular neighborhood now selling in the master-planned community of Summerlin®. Fewer than 20 homes remain in this Mesa village neighborhood that is set against the picturesque Spring Mountains. This includes one quick move-in and three stunningly designed models, all ready for immediate occupancy.
“We were already looking to buy our third Summerlin home,” said Randy Markin, who has lived in Summerlin with his wife, Phronsie, since 1995. “When Michael asked us for advice about purchasing a home at Monte Bello, we realized we loved this neighborhood too.” The two families picked lots side-by-side and moved into their homes just weeks apart. “We can see each other every day but we never intrude on each other’s privacy,” added Phronsie. “We really do all love each other and get along.” The close family relationship is so strong that Michael’s sister is selling her home in a nearby community so that she and her family can move to Summerlin and be closer to their parents too.
The six single-level and three two-story Monte Bello floor plans range from 2,989 to 4,214 square feet and offer three to six bedrooms, up to four-and-one-half baths and three bay-garages. Homes include front yard landscaping with paver driveways and front walks.
Monte Bello currently showcases three models that highlight some of the hundreds of design options available, including 12-foot ceiling heights, formal dining rooms, multi-slide glass-panel doors, wrought-iron accented banisters, soffit ceilings and elegant master baths. These models also feature fully equipped professional kitchens with up to four ovens, dual dish washers and granite-top islands.
The quality construction and vast design options were a pleasant surprise for the elder Markins, whose two previous Summerlin homes were custom built. “We were a little nervous about moving into a production home, but this house turned out to be better than any of the custom homes we’ve ever built. Plus, all of our utility bills are lower than ever,” said Randy.
According to the Home Energy Rating System (HERS), Monte Bello homes are significantly more energy efficient than the national new home builder average. Home buyers should see a sales agent for more information. Randy and Phronsie credit the Richmond American staff for such a great homebuilding experience.
Located directly across from the highly acclaimed Bishop Gorman High School, the gated Monte Bello neighborhood is just a short walk from the 17.5-acre Mesa Park and minutes from the 215 beltway, providing quick access to the Las Vegas Strip, McCarran International Airport and the community’s own dining, fashion and entertainment destination - Downtown Summerlin. Monte Bello has its own neighborhood park with children’s play area and picnic tables, thanks to Summerlin’s open space requirements for every neighborhood, which is perfect for Michael and Dominique’s growing family.
“My son has grandparents right next door and that’s pretty special,” said Dominique. “When we need something, they are right there. Hopefully my parents will eventually move from Denver to Monte Bello, too.”
Homes at Monte Bello start in in the $500,000s. For more information about Summerlin’s new neighborhoods and amenities, visit summerlin.com or download the Summerlin new home finding app by searching “Summerlin” in your app store.
