Roseman College Of Medicine Expands In Summerlin

Summerlin, the 22,500 acre master-planned community known for its beautifully designed neighborhoods, upscale homes, hundreds of parks, miles of trails and close proximity to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, is now proud to be the home of Roseman College of Medicine.  Just this month, Roseman University of Health Sciences purchased the flagship building of the former Nevada Cancer Institute at One Breakthrough Way in Summerlin from the University of California, San Diego.  The purchase will revitalize the building which has sat vacant since 2013 and expands the footprint of Roseman College of Medicine in the community.

Roseman currently operates from the 184,000-square-foot Ralph & Betty Engelstad Cancer Research Building on Discovery Drive, located just across the street from the newly acquired building.

“Roseman is a natural fit in the Summerlin master-planned community, where high quality education and healthy living are hallmarks of this community,” said Kevin Orrock, president of Summerlin. “We are so pleased the former Nevada Cancer complex has been given new life, and we are excited to be part of Roseman’s plans to launch its college of medicine right here in our community.”

The Henderson-based Roseman University of Health Sciences new Summerlin campus houses Roseman's (allopathic) College of Medicine, meaning it will offer M.D. degrees. Roseman University President Renee Coffman said the university's acquisition of both Summerlin buildings further demonstrates the university's commitment to its College of Medicine, which is progressing through the accreditation process with the goal of enrolling its first class of 60 medical students in 2017.

Located in The Gardens village of Summerlin, the Roseman University College of Medicine campus is near the 215 beltway, offering easy access to medical students from the entire valley. Roseman was founded in 1999 as the Nevada College of Pharmacy, the first and only pharmacy program in the state. Over the past 15 years, the university has experienced sustained growth, expanding beyond pharmacy and adding programs in nursing, pre- and post-doctoral dental medicine, health care business and research.
