Roseman University Expands Summerlin® Campus Through Purchase of Land from The Howard Hughes Corporation®

Roseman University of Health Sciences today announced it has purchased 3.5 acres of land at the corner of South Hualapai Way and Discovery Drive from The Howard Hughes Corporation for $3.1 million.

The purchase of the land parcel completes Phase I of Roseman University’s Summerlin Campus Master Plan, which already includes 9.25 acres of adjacent undeveloped land, the Flagship building and the Ralph & Betty Engelstad Cancer Research building of the former Nevada Cancer Institute. The Summerlin campus is home to Roseman University’s MD-granting College of Medicine, which is progressing through the accreditation process with the goal of enrolling its first class of 60 medical students in fall 2017.

“We are delighted to work with The Howard Hughes Corporation to further expand our campus footprint as we continue to develop a premier College of Medicine in Summerlin,” said Roseman University President Renee Coffman. “Along with the combined 327,000 square-feet of office, research, clinical and multi-use space in the Flagship and Engelstad buildings, 12.75 acres of prime, undeveloped land allows us to plan for Phase II, which may include additional facilities for medical education, research and student services to be developed as the College of Medicine grows.”

 Roseman University began building the foundation for its MD-granting College of Medicine in 2010 through the establishment of medical research programs that now focus on diabetes and obesity, cancer, Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases, cardiovascular disease, and adult stem cell and regenerative medicine. On December 13, 2013, the Board of Trustees of Roseman University unanimously approved the university’s plan to develop an allopathic medical school in Southern Nevada.
