Summerlin Las Vegas Connects Community to RecreationSummerlin, the Las Vegas valley’s largest master-planned community, offers residents a variety of amenities for year-round outdoor enjoyment. The most popular is the more than 150-mile trail system that weaves throughout the community’s many parks and connects neighborhoods, schools and shopping centers. The community’s trails, ideal for walking, cycling and running, consistently rank in resident surveys as the favorite and most used amenity in Summerlin. Recently, community officials marked the extension of the trail with the official ribbon cutting of a new pedestrian bridge adjacent the 215 beltway in the western region of Summerlin.

The new Far Hills bridge was built, in part, with support from The Howard Hughes Corporation, developer of Summerlin, along with the city of Las Vegas. The regional trail will ultimately create an interlocking trail system across the entire valley, eventually connecting to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.

“This bridge is the newest link to the regional trail system that wraps around the valley, linking Summerlin residents to their neighbors to the north, south and east,” said Tom Warden, senior vice president, Summerlin. “Outdoor living is one of the hallmarks of the Summerlin lifestyle and this bridge further enhances our ability to give residents full access to that lifestyle.”

Summerlin Las Vegas Recreation Water SlideAlong with part of the valley’s regional trail system, Summerlin’s extensive community-wide trail system includes village trails which are often located in natural arroyos, as well as street-side trails which are set several feet off of the road, are landscaped on both sides and are often as wide as eight feet across and offer tree-lined paths for shade. But if a warm summer stroll isn’t appealing, opt for an amenity where you can cool down in the summer heat. In addition to several private neighborhood pools, Summerlin is home to three community pools.

Two pools are open only to Summerlin residents. The Trails Pool features lap lanes, a dive tank and wading pool. The Willows Pool is a resort-style play pool that features a water slide and beach entrance. A third community pool, owned and operated by the city of Las Vegas and open to the public features 25-meter laps cross-wise and 100-meter laps length-wise, two diving boards of varying heights and shallow play area.

For a little more excitement, in Summerlin’s southernmost village is the Wet ‘n’ Wild Las Vegas water park, open all summer to the public.
