STREET-SIDE TRAILS
Street-side trails are the backbone of the Summerlin trail system. Always landscaped on
both sides and set several feet off the road, street-side trails vary in width from
five to eight feet and are designed to serve both serious and casual users.
VILLAGE TRAILS
Village trails are often located in natural arroyos or man-made open space corridors
within a village in off-street areas. They are designed to provide respite from noise
and traffic and to serve long-distance walkers and runners, as well as cyclists and skaters.
REGIONAL TRAILS
Regional trails are proposed for the eight-mile Western Beltway Corridor and
along flood control channels. They provide a link to BLM land in the Red Rock
Canyon National Conservation Area. Regional trails are being designed for multiple
non-motorized uses and are being constructed as a public/private partnership by Clark
County and the City of Las Vegas in cooperation with The Howard Hughes Corporation. The
regional trails are planned as part of the proposed valley-wide trail system.
NATURAL TRAILS
Within the undeveloped areas of Summerlin not shown on this map, there are natural trails that
will eventually connect the community to the planned regional trails and to BLM land in the Red
Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. Natural trails will be located in low density areas and
are intended for use by outdoor enthusiasts and hiking buffs.
SUMMERLIN PARKS
Nearly one-third of Summerlin’s total acreage is designated as open space which includes trails,
parks, golf courses and natural areas, and each Summerlin village is designed around a major park
or golf course. The community’s major parks feature a variety of play areas and swimming pools, in
addition to lighted soccer, baseball and softball fields, and basketball, tennis and volleyball
courts. Summerlin is also home to more than 100 neighborhood and village parks.
