A: DTS is the premier retail and entertainment destination in Summerlin. It was a no brainer for me when it came to choosing this location for Corks ‘N Crafts. Since our business is a “destination” experience, it was important to pick a location where people would feel comfortable and familiar going.

A: At the end of the day, did you do the best you could? Then you succeeded. Everything that happens in life is a neutral event. We determine whether it will make us stronger or if it will break us.

Q: Best career advice for young girls?

A: “No” is not an answer. Keep going until you get that “yes.” The farmer with the best crop was willing to do the work no matter how hard it was or how late it got. She knew the shortcut was her downfall and she was willing to take advice. You reap what you sow in life and in business. It’s your community and those around you that make your success possible. Give back to your community and most importantly, always be kind and patient.

Q: Why DTS?

A: I grew up in Las Vegas. Back then it was a small town, and everyone knew each other. At Downtown Summerlin, you still get that small town feel. People come just to walk their dogs or sit and talk about their lives. DTS always has special events like the Farmers Market, signature parades and summer concerts where people can enjoy the events and spend time with family and friends. Our customers are like family, and you can’t get that experience anywhere else. This place is special and there’s no doubt that it’s the heart of the community.

Q: Best career advice for young girls?

A: Give yourself time. People often overestimate what they can accomplish in a year and underestimate what they can do in ten. It’s ok if you still don’t have your dream business or dream job yet. Find something you’re passionate about, set goals, stay positive (especially when it’s hardest to) and take the right steps every day. They eventually add up!

A: I’ve worked hard to make Summer House the first and only destination for luxury airbrush tanning. We pay attention to every detail, and I feel like Downtown Summerlin has the same standards.

Q: Best career advice for young girls? 

A: Although not always easy, come from a place of love and not from a place of fear. When you come from a place of love, you can approach situations with responses full of grace and compassion. And not only with others, because you never know the battle they may be fighting, but most importantly with yourself. Take accountability for your mistakes, as there will be plenty, but do not dwell on them. And always celebrate the good just as much as you work to problem solve the bad.

Q: Why DTS? 

A: When Downtown Summerlin approached us about opening a childcare facility, we were not sure whether it was something we wanted to do. However, our goal has always been to be able to provide families with childcare options they can trust. Downtown Summerlin has allowed us to provide parents with another option outside of our in-home services, to take the time for themselves while knowing their little ones are well cared for and nearby.

A: As you grow and come to learn what career path(s) you take as an adult, remember to have FUN and keep that fearlessness inside of you that you had as a child. Remain humble, but don’t ever let anyone dull your shine or your ability to believe in the impossible the way you did as a child. And read…read as much and as often as you can.

A: Our entire business model is centered around catering to families and their childcare needs. Downtown Summerlin is a dream location to be able to do just that with so many great families visiting the property time and time again.

Q: Best career advice for young girls? 

A: Study hard, be patient and persistent. Define and develop your passion. Value your health. Don’t stress. Limit how much time you spend watching what other people are doing on social media. Luck comes from hard work and good karma. The most difficult situations give you the ability to grow. Mistakes are meant to teach you valuable lessons. Don’t chase the money, develop your talent and it will find you.

Q: Why DTS? 

A:  We opened our doors the day Downtown Summerlin became a landmark in our community. I had the privilege to watch the first round of stores get build, to choose a location in the center of the busiest street. The grand opening was spectacular with over 30,000 people in attendance.  I’ve lived in Summerlin for the last 20 years, raised my children here and couldn’t be prouder to have a practice and retail store in this close-knit community.

Q: Best career advice for young girls? 

A:  You are so much stronger than you think! You were built to do hard things, personally and professionally, use that strength to drive yourself forward. And whatever path you choose down the road in a career, as a mom, spouse, friend, etc. always make time for yourself. You can’t take care of everyone else if you don’t take care of yourself first, this was told to me by a nurse in the hospital when my first daughter was born and has stuck with me ever since. I consistently make time for myself so I can be a better mom, wife, friend and leader in my businesses.
