Festival attendees who want to support “Art for a Cause” are invited to stop by the Summerlin Hospital Children’s Medical Center table to check out art created by its talented pediatric patients.
“Art therapy plays an important role when children and teens are hospitalized, from self-discovery to emotional release, stress relief and even pain management. Within the Children’s Medical Center, patients are assisted by an art therapist, child life specialists and hospital volunteers to draw, paint, color, create beadwork, and even play with slime,” said Danielle Goupille, Certified Child Life Specialist with Summerlin Hospital. “This is the only fundraiser we hold, and the proceeds are used to purchase arts and crafts supplies for our two playrooms,” said Danielle. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to showcase and sell our patients’ artwork, from canvas paintings to creative flowerpots, magnets and even some furniture.”
Each piece typically ranges from $5 to $25, depending upon the size.
“We love being part of the Festival of Arts,” said Danielle. “It has a wonderful energy and is a point of pride for our young artists to have their art for sale at such a high-caliber event.”
