Attorney and busy mother of three, Maren Parry, calls her six-minute commute from her driveway to her desk a game-changer. A real estate attorney at Ballard Spahr, a law firm housed at One Summerlin, Parry, along with her firefighter husband Brandon, have called Summerlin home for 19 years and counting.
After she graduated from UNLV’s William S. Boyd School of Law in 2005, the couple settled in the village of Summerlin Centre where they enjoy proximity to great amenities like Sagemont Park, trails, and of course, Downtown Summerlin.
In fact, Parry says her kids wouldn’t be clothed if it were not for Nordstrom Rack. All three kids golf, so the PGA Superstore is a favorite, as are all the restaurants where the family loves dining out.
Parry’s firm made the move to One Summerlin from downtown Las Vegas in 2017, and Parry, who can see her home from her 9th floor office window, says it’s especially comforting to be so close to her kids when she sees the school health office number pop up on her phone. “While working downtown had its benefits professionally, nothing trumps being so close to home, school and family.”
Son Cache, 11, will be a 4th grader next year as Parry’s last Goolsby Greyhound. He plays baseball with the Summerlin South Little League, so the family spends many evenings and Saturday afternoons at the Mesa and Vistas fields. Daughter Sage, 11, who is headed to Rogich as a 6th grader in the fall, swims with the Las Vegas Swim Club at the Pavilion Pool. “I think my car could autopilot between Pavilion and Mesa,” said Parry. “Our central location in Summerlin makes it possible to fit all the kids’ practices, games and meets into our already packed schedule.”
Fisher, 13, will be an 8th grade at Rogich Middle School. According to Parry, both Goolsby and Rogich did amazing things during the COVID-19 closures, and the family is grateful for all the teachers and staff that made the experience learning from home as good as it could be. Parry also set up her own learn-from-home environment, appropriately called “Parry Prep.” Like most working moms, Parry is looking forward to having the kids back in school full-time this fall!
While Parry’s practice specialty is real estate, most of her work touches both real estate and gaming. She performs pro bono work with the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada and can sometimes be seen on local access channels handling zoning matters before the Clark County Commission – something her kids like to tease her about.
The Parry family considers themselves firmly rooted in Summerlin, but as the kids grow, Parry says the family plans to spend more time fly-fishing in Montana, about the only thing they can’t do in the community!
