One of the many reasons the Summerlin master planned community continues to attract residents of all ages is its strong commitment to education. From preschool through graduate studies, Summerlin offers a diverse range of educational opportunities in Southern Nevada.

The community is home to 26 schools, including 14 public schools, two charter schools, eight private schools, and three institutions of higher learning. This mix of schools gives  families the ability to find learning environments that fit their children’s needs, interests, and goals.

According to Danielle Bisterfeldt, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Consumer Experience for Summerlin, education has long been a cornerstone of Summerlin’s planning. “Since the community’s inception more than three decades ago, schools have been thoughtfully integrated into neighborhoods, allowing many students to live within walking, biking, or a short drive of campus,” she said. “The result is a community where education is not simply an amenity, but  part of the fabric of daily life.”

Today, Summerlin is served by 14 public schools within the Clark County School District, many of them highly ranked and regarded, as well as charter schools that offer innovative academic approaches and specialized programs. Families seeking private education also have access to a wide range of options, including faith-based schools, college preparatory institutions, and programs emphasizing STEM, the arts, and leadership development. Among these are the Meadows College Preparatory School, Faith Lutheran Jr. and Sr. High School, the Adelson School, Alexander Dawson at Rainbow Mountain, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, and Bishop Gorman High School.

According to Bisterfeldt, this breadth of educational choice is one reason families continue to rank schools among the top factors influencing their decision to move to Summerlin. “Parents appreciate having multiple pathways to academic success without having to leave the community they call home,” she said.

The educational opportunities in Summerlin extend well beyond K-12 learning. The community  is also home to the expanding Roseman University of Health Sciences, a nationally recognized institution that is helping to shape the future of healthcare education in Nevada. Roseman recently celebrated the opening of its allopathic medical school, a milestone that strengthens the state’s healthcare workforce pipeline while providing aspiring physicians with an opportunity to pursue their education close to home.

The university continues to invest in its Summerlin campus, creating additional opportunities for students pursuing careers in medicine, nursing, pharmacy, and other health sciences disciplines. Its growing presence benefits students while also contributing to Southern Nevada’s long-term economic development and healthcare capacity.

“As backpacks are packed, school buses begin rolling, and classrooms welcome students back for a new year, Summerlin’s educational offerings remain one of the community’s defining strengths,” said Bisterfeldt. “For families seeking a community where learning is valued, supported and woven into everyday life, school is always in session in Summerlin.”
