Raise a glass if you like IPAs – one of the world’s most popular types of craft beer. And where else to indulge in a brew like this than the bevy of restaurants at Downtown Summerlin.

Before we dive in for where to sip top IPA’s, here are a few fun facts.

  • IPA was not invented in India. While IPA stands for India Pale Ale, India was not the country that created it.
  • IPA has a hoppier flavor, relatively high bitterness, and is light color.
  • There is a special glass for it. Sam Calagione of Dogfish Head and Ken Grossman of Sierra Nevada collaborated in the design of a special glass just for IPAs called the Spiegelau IPA Glass. Bonus: it is sold at Crate and Barrel.
  • There are four official IPA styles:
    • English-Style IPA
    • American-Style IPA
    • Imperial (Double) IPA
    • Session IPA

Thirsty yet? Make sure you stop by Public School 702 to try one of their five IPA’s on draft. Favorites include Ballast Point Sculpin IPA, Lagunitas IPA, Dogfish Head IPA and the Can-O-bliss Tropical IPA. All with the perfect hops and flavor.

Other must-visit beer haunts include California Pizza Kitchen, Wolfgang Puck Player’s Locker, Dave & Buster’s, Frankie’s Uptown, Grape Street Café & Wine Bar, JING, Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar, Maggiano’s Little Italy and Red Robin Gourmet Burgers & Brews – to name a few.

Happy sipping!
