Don’t miss Southern Nevada’s largest parade, the 25th annual Summerlin Council Patriotic Parade on Thursday, July 4. The escort division of the parade begins at 8:30 a.m. with the official start at 9 a.m. The parade starts at the corner of Hillpointe Rd. and Hills Center Dr. in The Trails village of Summerlin.

The parade’s silver anniversary year will feature more than 70 entries, including the return of the popular Vegas Golden Knights themed float sponsored by City National Bank that debuted last year, a variety of traditional floats, giant inflatable balloons, American military heroes, bands, musical groups and a variety of kids’ favorite storybook and cartoon characters. More than 2,500 people are participating in the parade and more than 500 volunteers from dozens of local schools and community groups are assisting with parade operations. Over 16,000 cubic feet of helium will be used for the more than 25 giant inflatables. Attendance along the parade route is expected to top 40,000 people. Festivities are free and open to the general public. Guests are encouraged to arrive early, wear sunscreen and bring plenty of water.

If fireworks viewing is the focus of your evening, the perfect place to see free fireworks presented by Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa at 9 p.m. is The Lawn at Downtown Summerlin. You can throw down a blanket or a lawn chair to watch the sky light up in honor of America’s birthday. Consider pre-fireworks dining from a variety of restaurants including Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill, California Pizza Kitchen, Andiron Steak & Sea, Maggiano’s Little Italy, Trattoria Reggiano and more. Many restaurants at the property have patios with ample viewing options for those who prefer to dine al fresco, making it an easy one-stop location. Or if you prefer to eat under the stars, the property also boasts a diverse assortment of fast casual eateries including Capriotti’s, Bonanno’s New York Pizzeria, Crazy Pita, Earl of Sandwich, Panda Express and Shake Shack – to name a few.
